Theodore (Ted) Traum, PE, CCP, DGCP is an internationally recognized biocontainment engineer with more than 40 years of experience in the design, commissioning, certification, and operation of high- and maximum-containment laboratories worldwide. A Principal and Senior Technical Advisor with World BioHazTec, he has provided leadership and technical oversight for some of the world's most complex BSL-3 and BSL-4 facilities, supporting government, academic, healthcare, and private-sector organizations throughout the facility lifecycle. 

Ted has contributed to the development of major biosafety and laboratory performance standards, including the CDC/NIH Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories (BMBL), NIH Design Requirements Manual, ANSI/ASSP Z9.14, USP <797>, and the WHO Laboratory Safety Manual. He is a recipient of the ABSA International John H. Richardson Special Recognition Award and the ChABSA Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his exceptional and enduring contributions to the biosafety profession. His expertise and mentorship have helped shape biocontainment programs and facilities across the United States and around the world.
